Description

Originally crowning the roofline of a historic building over a century ago, this remarkable zinc spire once served as the decorative finial for a lightning rod system. Richly weathered by more than 100 years of exposure to the elements, it displays the beautifully aged patina and subtle surface character that only time can create. Gracefully proportioned and elegantly detailed, this architectural element exemplifies the craftsmanship of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Whether displayed as a sculptural object, incorporated into a garden, or used as a dramatic interior accent, it brings a sense of history and timeless European character to any setting. Each spire is an authentic antique. Variations in color, texture, and surface are natural characteristics of aged zinc and are part of what makes every piece unique. Assembly: To ensure safe shipping, the upper rod is shipped separately. Simply join the two sections using the included museum wax (Earthquake Wax) to secure the rod in place. No tools are required. Collector's Note: Unlike newly cast reproductions, this spire is an authentic architectural remnant salvaged from a historic structure. Its naturally aged zinc patina and weathered finish cannot be replicated, making each piece a genuine artifact of architectural history. Collector's Note Each piece in this collection is an authentic architectural artifact salvaged from historic European buildings. Individually selected for its craftsmanship, character, and originality, every object bears the naturally aged patina and subtle imperfections that only more than a century of exposure can create. Mounted on reclaim 2 x 8 construction timbers which are rustic by their very nature with integrated museum-quality LED lighting, these architectural fragments are thoughtfully reimagined as sculptural works of art—preserving their history while giving them a new life in today's interiors.

Care & Maintenance

Zinc is an incredibly soft metal, and its distinctive patina has developed naturally over more than 100 years of exposure to the elements. Because of this aging process, the surface may have a slightly textured appearance. For routine care, simply dust with a soft, dry cloth or a Swiffer® duster. This is typically all that is needed to keep your piece looking its best. For more thorough cleaning, compressed air—either from a can or an air compressor equipped with an air nozzle—is an excellent way to remove dust and debris from the textured surface without disturbing the natural patina. Please Note: Variations in color, texture, and surface character are natural features of antique zinc and are part of what makes each piece truly one of a kind.

Light Operation

Your architectural zinc finial includes a low-voltage LED spotlight designed to beautifully illuminate the piece while remaining discreet. Features USB powered with approximately 6 feet of cable Stepless dimming for adjustable brightness 360° adjustable spotlight to direct light exactly where you want it Simple on/off switch integrated into the dimmer control Natural White (4000K) LED for a clean, museum-quality display Power Supply A dual-port USB wall adapter is included. One USB port powers the spotlight, while the second port is available for charging a phone or powering another USB device. Operation Plug the USB cable into the included wall adapter. Press the button to turn the light on or off. Adjust the brightness using the dimmer control until you achieve the desired lighting effect. Rotate the spotlight to highlight the finial from your preferred angle. The low-voltage LED produces very little heat and is designed for years of dependable use.
